Well I’m telling you, everyone in my daycare has HeidiSongs fever! There is not a daycare day that goes buy were we don’t play a HeidiSongs DVD or CD, sometimes we do BOTH!
All songs are fun and catchy, and are teacher tested and kid approved. Every child can easily memorize the spellings of these words and begin writing as soon as they are able to write the alphabet and can read a few words.
Lately I’ve been focusing on the SING&SPELL series, since my son is learning how to spell right now.
What does each DVD/CD cover?
SING&SPELL #1 covers and, are, can, for, go, have, he, here, is, like, me, my, of, on, play, said, see, she, that, the, they, to, was, with, you
SING&SPELL #2 covers red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black, white, gray, pink, an, at, big, do, down, has, in, it, no/yes, not, small, this, too, up, we, what, who. Plus, two punctuation songs; one for capitals, and one for spaces between the words
SING&SPELL #3 covers again, away, because, come, could, help, house, how, jump, little, look, make, one, run, should, their, there, they’re, three, to, too, two, want, we’re, were, when, where, who, why, and would
SING&SPELL #4 covers A (word), all, am, as, be, by, came, dear, did, friend, from, good, had, his, I (word), if, love, made, nice, now, out, over, put, some, then, very, will, and your!
and
SING&SPELL #5 covers Zero the Hero, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, about, around, but, eat, fight, find, funny, get, into, new, ride, please, pretty, saw, say, says, so, under, which
Wesley and the kids in my home daycare LOVE this series. There favorite is SING&SPELL #5 because it has a more Hip-Hop style of music. Everyone’s top favorite song is “Zero the Hero”. I swear my five year old sings it five times a day from memory. And as the days go on, I catch him singing songs I didn’t even think he was paying attention too.
The Resource CDs contain more printable activities then I could even use! It was so much fun picking activities to use with Wesley. We used the Puzzle sight words. I printed the set I wanted to use and colored them with crayons to avoid wasting color ink and my son loved them. Sadly I’m having trouble uploading the pictures I took of us using them.
All and all I cannot not recommend this series enough. I have toddlers who can barely talk absorbing how to spell words and singing along, and five year olds who are learning in a way I wish my teachers had know about when I was younger. Then perhaps I may be a better speller myself now. I mean when I was a child I knew how to spell Mickey Mouse because of the theme song, I’m so glad Heidi has harness this way of learning so that every child has the chance to learn to spell in a fun, easy way. Plus they can learn to spell at a much earlier age too. Instead of teaching my daycare babies the Itsy Bitsy Spider, we sing HeidiSongs!

I would start with the SING&SPELL #1 set. A friend who teaches K/1st grade told me about Heidi Songs and my 3 year old son loves the alphabet CD/DVD. So SING&SPELL #1 would be perfect!
