I’m always shocked how the months are just flying by. I’ve been meaning to get this post out, and somehow its already the middle of June and I am just getting to it now! Yicks! I will have to try harder with June’s list.
This month we read 16 chapter books and no, I did not lose my voice again! A reader mentioned in the comments of my Raising Bookworms: What We Read In May 2019 post, that I should have my thyroid checked because it can be correlated. When I did some Googling, I saw that is completely possible. So at my physical I will be bring this up! I love my blog/vlog community!
So while I was healthy this month, I cannot say the same for my Little Z Man. At the end of April, Zakari was really run down. Then at the beginning of the month, he developed a fever and just wanted to sleep all the time. If you know my little man you would see right away how this was so out of character.
I’m not one to run to the doctors, but his birthday party was coming, and I didn’t want him to be unwell if there was something I could do about it. So my best friend came and helped me out. She took care of my daycare kids while I ran Z to the doctor. Turns out that it was just a virus, and I was just suppose to keep him hydrated and let him rest.
He started to seem better. His birthday party was a great success. I thought we were on the mend. He was still sleeping a lot, however slowly but surely he was recovering.
Then over the May long weekend while my hubby was out of town at the work convention, things took a downward spiral. We had vomiting, fever and Zakari was in so much pain. But he could not tell me where.
Finally it just clicked in my head. He behaved very similarly in 2017 when he had an ear infection. So I drove to my parents, picked up my dad for an extra set of hands, and off to the emergency room in the town where our doctor is located. Because it was a holiday, none of the clinics were open.
Turned out he had developed a nasty ear infection. So now we knew what we had to do. Pain meds around the clock, until the antibiotics started to work. We landed up with a much happier little boy.
So because he was so lethargic for a good chunk of the month, sadly some nights we could only get through maybe 1 chapter. So I’m quite happy with our 16 chapter books!!
So as usual! Check out the video below to see what we read in May 2019. Under the video, you will find the links to all the books mentioned in this video, in case your interested on checking them out for your kiddo!
